Barre Gentillot Inspiration 2020 – Graves de Vayres
Founded in 1750, Château Barre Gentillot sits at the heart of the Graves de Vayres appellation. The estate, restored by owner Pierre Jean Larraqué, spans 60 hectares of diverse soils including clay, limestone, gravel, and boulbène. The Inspiration cuvée reflects this unique terroir, with grapes selected from the estate’s finest plots.
This wine, predominantly Merlot (90%) with a touch of Cabernet Franc (10%), is a masterful expression of the Graves de Vayres appellation. It pours a deep garnet red, and on the nose, it delivers a clean and pure aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is marked by silky and velvety tannins, offering a balanced, refined experience that reflects the richness of its terroir.
The winemaking process includes careful plot selection, mechanical harvesting with sorting both in the field and at the winery, followed by traditional vinification. Aqueous phase extraction and post-fermentation maceration contribute to the fine, elegant tannins. The wine is aged in a combination of French oak barrels (30%) and concrete vats (70%).
