Barre Gentillot Vieilles Vignes Blanc 2022 – Graves de Vayres
Château Barre Gentillot has been a prominent estate since 1750, located in the historic Graves de Vayres appellation, the second oldest in Bordeaux. This small 4-hectare vineyard boasts a unique terroir of clay, limestone, and boulbène soils, offering ideal conditions for producing exceptional white wines.
The Vieilles Vignes Blanc 2022 cuvée is composed of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon, a classic Bordeaux blend that brings together freshness and richness. The wine is mechanically harvested with careful sorting both in the vineyard and the cellar. Fermentation and aging take place in 225 and 300-liter French oak barrels, with 6 to 7 months of batonnage on fine lees, adding complexity and texture.
The result is a bright yellow wine with a crisp, aromatic nose featuring citrus notes. On the palate, it reveals a beautiful tension and freshness, with lively flavors of fresh fruits and zesty lemon. This wine is a true reflection of the Graves de Vayres terroir and Château Barre Gentillot’s dedication to sustainable viticulture.
